২.ঐতিহাসিক বর্ননাঃ

গাজী বংশের শেষ জমিদার শের আলী গাজীর নামানুসারে শেরপুর নামে নামকরণ করা হয়। ক্ষুদ্র নৃ-গোষ্ঠীর মানুষ শতশত বছর ধরে বসবাস করে। শেরপুর স্বাধীন হয় ১৯৭১ সালের ৭ ডিসেম্বর। এদিন অধিনায়ক জগজিৎ সিং অরোরা হেলিকপ্টারে শহরের দারোগা আলী পার্কে অবতরণ করে আনুষ্ঠানিক ভাবে বাংলাদেশের জাতীয় পতাকা উত্তোলন করেন।

2. Historical description:

Sherpur was named after Sher Ali Ghazi, the last zamindar of the Ghazi dynasty. People of small ethnic groups have lived for hundreds of years. Sherpur became independent on 6 December 1971. On the same day, Captain Jagjit Singh Aurora landed at Daroga Ali Park in the city in a helicopter and officially hoisted the national flag of Bangladesh.
