রংপুরের হাড়িভাঙ্গা আমঃ

রংপুর তামাক ও ইক্ষু'র জন্য বিখ্যাত হলেও সম্প্রতিককালে হাড়িভাঙ্গা আম বাংলাদেশের আশবিহীন একপ্রকারের সুস্বাদু আম। বিশ্বখ্যাত, স্বাদে গন্ধে অতুলনীয় আম। হাড়িভাঙ্গা আম বাংলাদেশের একটি বিখ্যাত ও সুস্বাদু আম। বিশ্ববিখ্যাত এ হাড়িভাঙ্গা আমের উৎপত্তি রংপুর জেলার মিঠাপুকুর উপজেলার খোড়াগাছ ইউনিয়ন থেকে।

আমটির ‘ইতিহাসের’ গোড়াপত্তন করেছিলেন নফল উদ্দিন পাইকার নামের এক বৃক্ষবিলাসী মানুষ। শুরুতে এর নাম ছিল মালদিয়া। আমগাছটির নিচে তিনি মাটির হাঁড়ি দিয়ে ফিল্টার বানিয়ে পানি দিতেন। একদিন রাতে কে বা কারা ওই মাটির হাঁড়িটি ভেঙে ফেলে। ওই গাছে বিপুল পরিমাণ আম ধরে। সেগুলো ছিল খুবই সুস্বাদু। সেগুলো বিক্রির জন্য বাজারে নিয়ে গেলে লোকজন ওই আম সম্পর্কে জানতে চায়। তখন চাষি নফল উদ্দিন মানুষকে বলেন, ‘যে গাছের নিচের হাড়িটা মানুষ ভাঙছিল সেই গাছেরই আম এগুলা।’ তখন থেকেই ওই গাছটির আম ‘হাড়িভাঙ্গা আম’ নামে পরিচিতি পায়। বর্তমানে রংপুরের হাঁড়িভাঙা আমের মাতৃ গাছটির বয়স ৬৩ বছর।

The 'history' of mango was started by a man named Nafal Uddin Paikar. Initially, its name was Maldia. Under the mango tree, he made a filter with earthen pots and gave water. One night someone broke that earthen pot. That tree bears a large quantity of mangoes. They were very tasty. When they are taken to the market for sale, people want to know about those mangoes. Then the farmer Nafal Uddin told the people, 'These are the mangoes of the tree under which people were breaking the bone.'Since then the mango of that tree has been known as 'Haribhanga mango'. At present, the mother tree of Haribhanga mango in Rangpur is 63 years old.
